"Cedar Cottage" owned in 2023 by Jack and Vicky Hobey on Eagle Island, is the oldest remaining building from the Eagle Island Resort. It was built in 1914 by Dr. William Rover of St. Louis, and later became part of Hilltop Camp. The children of Charles Lindbergh stayed in the house while at camp. ~ Information researched by Lauren Macintyre

The Mudd Family included active community members who lived on the South Shore of Walloon Lake. Following many summers at Walloon Lake, Gerard Mudd, also of St. Louis, Missouri, purchased the old Brower's Grocery building in 1964. At the time of purchase Mr. Mudd planned to remodel the store and turn it into a headquarters for a new day camp to be managed by a Mr. Barry.
The New Walloon Outdoor Club Opened its Doors 3 July 1964 under the direction of J. Brian Barry,
with Charles Zimmer spearheading a team of a dozen activity leaders; including Jeff Mullins and Margaret Stanton.

Article Below: By 1969, Dr. Mudd was privately selling outdoor type items that could have been connected with the Walloon Outdoor Club. Further articles or news clippings about the Walloon Outdoor Club were not found in local newspapers, so perhaps the club had closed by then. If anyone has any more information to be included regarding any aspects of the Walloon Outdoor Club, please contact this web master by clicking HERE.
